GPIWA JOB DESCRIPTION - DISTRIBUTION WORKER


A. Responsible to: Lead Distribution Worker
Regular Hours: GPIWA Business Office hours and emergency on-call basis.
Pay: Minimum starting $17.29/hour

B. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports directly to the Lead Distribution Worker. Performs all assigned tasks in a safe and professional manner.

1. Installs, maintains, and repairs, water mains and water service lines. Maintains and replaces water Meters and meter boxes. Flushes, installs, relocates and repairs fire hydrants. Installs, repairs, locates and exercises valves. Installs or disconnects water service, taps Water mains. Repairs and installs water pipe; sizes up to 16”. Repairs water leaks.

2. Performs after hours “On-Call” responsibilities as needed
Respects the Association's property at all times. Maintain trucks in a manner that will produce an efficient and safe vehicle.

C. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Keep all vehicles clean and maintained as set for in the Personnel Manual.
• Check materials on trucks on a daily basis and re-stock when necessary.
• Deal with the Association's members in a professional and courteous manners.
• Follow written safety compliance procedures as outlined in the current Safety Manual. Practice good safety habits and report any safety hazards.
• Perform all tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Filing of completed work orders.
• Meter changeouts.
• Clean in and around meter boxes.
• Locate distribution lines for utility contractors.
• Assist Plant Operators when necessary.

D. SKILLS REQUIRED
• Knowledge of waterline fittings and repair techniques.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems as they arise.
• Knowledge of pipe fitting and meter installations.
• Ability to operate machinery in a safe manner.
• Ability to perform assigned tasks with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Knowledge of area streets.

E. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

G. EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous utility field experience preferred
• Ability to obtain the Florida Water Distribution License Level 3 within two years from date of hire.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
